—Eddy | ||
Eddy is one of the three protagonists in Ed, Edd n Eddy, and the self-appointed ambitious leader of the Eds.
Appearance
Eddy wears a yellow polo shirt with a purple collar/sleeve hems and a vertical red stripe on the right side. He also wears light blue pants, as well as a wallet chain and plain red shoes. During the fall, he wears a dark yellow jacket which resembles his usual shirt. In winter, he wears his other jacket which is yellow and has a purple horizontal stripe. He has a "closet of dreams" full of extra clothes, and has worn many different party shirts and other outfits for specific scams. For example, in "Rambling Ed," Eddy wore a turban for a scam that was for Jonny and Rolf when he pretended to summon ghosts and demons. Eddy's usual summer outfit bears a strong similarity in color to Rolf's clothes.
Eddy has pink skin and has a lighter complexion around his eyes, indicating that he has suntanned skin. He has blue eyes, as seen in "Smile for the Ed". He has a yellow tongue in season one episodes, and a green tongue in the opening sequence and all episodes from season two onwards.
Eddy has three visible hairs, indicated with black lines. The direction the hairs point in varies.
Personality
Until the movie, Eddy is often selfish, and mostly works for his own interests, sometimes neglecting, and even verbally or physically abusing his friends. Because he is frequently overambitious, deceiving, loud, and power-hungry, his peers often socially reject him. Kevin describes him as being "desperate" on more than one occasion, as Eddy is indeed starved for social acceptance and is irritated by the fact that his rival Kevin is the most popular kid, whereas he is not even as popular as Plank.
A good example of his selfishness and greed is in "Brother, Can You Spare an Ed?". After manipulating Ed into buying jawbreakers instead of fudge for Sarah, Edd comes up with the idea of paying back Sarah, with interest. Eddy (more for himself than for Sarah) comes up with a scam that has Kevin giving Edd and Ed painful wedgies and hanging them from a tree, and afterward Eddy uses them as piñatas in a piñata scam with Jonny trying to get a prize out of them.
Eddy somewhat lives in his own world, in which everyone loves and admires him. In this world, he is more intelligent than Edd and is the literal King of the Cul-De-Sac. This dream world was shown during his part of Jonny's bedtime story in "Once Upon an Ed."
Eddy is possibly paranoid of Kevin as displayed in "The Luck of the Ed." After Ed forgets where he hid Eddy's prized magazines, he suspects Kevin of stealing his magazines and that Ed, Edd, and Jimmy are all in on the imagined heist.
Eddy has also displayed cowardly behavior on more than one occasion, having saved his own hide (or get free jawbreakers) rather than help his friends. Despite his horrible treatment, he shows that he does care about them and really cherishes their friendship. Although there were some episodes who showed these traits (like "A Fistful Of Ed" or "Momma's Little Ed"), the most prominent one is in the movie, which matches with his character development: He saved Ed from an angry Rolf in the car chase, cried for an apology to Edd by admitting his faults, and smiles when Edd comforts him after showing remorse from his actions in the end of the movie.
Though these traits might seem to be definitive parts of his character on their own, they can also be easily explained. Many of his negative traits come from his brother, who (according to Eddy) also conned people, although much more successfully. His brother was accepted into society easily, and Eddy was respected because he was with him. After his brother left, Eddy decided to follow in his footsteps, but failed miserably in the process. His brother was popular because his scams and pranks worked, while Eddy's backfired and ended in him and his friends getting pummeled and walking away empty handed. Eddy's brother was someone who people wanted to be around, because he was fun and popular (despite in his only appearance seeming to be a ruthless bully).
Eddy is known to hate birds. This is first shown in "Virt-Ed-Go" when after the Eds retrieve a quarter from the sewer, a bird (possibly a seagull) flew in, and took the quarter out of Eddy's hand, and flew away. The bird shows up again, when the Eds are looking at a tree and the bird's nest falls on Ed's head, Eddy realizes it is the bird, and the bird flies away, Eddy says "I hate birds!" In "Button Yer Ed" and "Will Work for Ed," he is attacked by the warmongering rooster. In "It Came From Outer Ed," crows were summoned by a curse made by Ed's scam which caused them to attack the Eds.
Eddy has shown some level of intellect throughout the series by concocting efficient scams like the "thingamajig", "Eddy's Career Counseling", the "Ed Theater", and the "Canadian squirt guns." To a degree, he shares with Edd the ability to make useful items out of scratch or random items lying around. For example, in "Postcards from the Ed," he off-screen constructed the "Eddy's World-Class Deluxe Tour Bus" also he built the thingamajig (with the help of Ed and Edd) and possibly the "Professor Scam Flyer", he built the alien vacuum and constructed a few prototypes. He can also build the feared "El Mongo Stink-Bomb".
While not as smart as Edd when it comes to straight up intelligence, Eddy does indeed possess a wide and immensely varied knowledge of pop culture. Several times throughout the series he has made references to not only famous movies/actors/directors, but also to more sophisticated historical individuals such as Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Mikhail Baryshnikov.
However, in the movie, the reason of his behavior is explained: It turns out that all his selfish and mean traits were all a mask, only acting like his brother just to earn his brother's respect and be friends with everyone; which had the opposite effect and nearly lost his dear best friends because of his behavior. His true self is a sad, misunderstood and self-hating kid who yearned love and respect and was abused and mistreated his entire life.
Eddy is very sensitive about his height, which suggests he may have a Napoleon complex. Eddy detests school, and has more than once has tried to escape it. His report card not only has straight F's, but also has teacher's comments filling up the entire reverse side of the card. His poor grades are more than likely due to a significant lack of effort on his part. His ideas for scams are regularly creative and clever, showing a great deal of intelligence.
At home, Eddy loves his retro-styled room. Some of the items inside it are a lava lamp, a circular king-sized bed, a disco ball, and a turntable. Eddy also has a decent-sized collection of vinyl records to go with the record player. Eddy is mostly seen commanding the two Eds into building the scams while he does either non-physical work or no work at all. He probably enjoys cooking, as he often offers to make his friends lunch, especially buttery omelets. These omelets are often remarked upon by him, and it seems he is quite prideful of them, to the point that he believes they are the best ever.
He is also highly impatient and is unwilling to wait for even the smallest amount of time. This is best shown by his unwillingness to wait one minute for a microwave burrito to cook in the episode "Oath to an Ed." He also jumps to conclusions very quickly, to the point where he issues ultimatums to those he is falsely accusing, such as when he accused Ed and Edd of working for Kevin in "The Luck of the Ed." It must be granted that he was very paranoid at the time, but he does regularly jump to conclusions about the guilt or innocence of others (see the suspect list in "If It Smells Like an Ed").
One point of pride for Eddy is his big brother. Eddy's Brother is his supposed idol, and Eddy is fast to point out ways in which he resembles his older brother. Eddy also frequently brings up his sibling, especially how he taught Eddy everything about scamming and how his brother ran the cul-de-sac before he left home. He also uses his brother as a threat more than once (notably in "Ed... Pass it On..."). Even when it becomes clear to everyone in Ed, Edd n Eddy's Big Picture Show, Eddy doesn't confess how his brother isn't what he often claimed to be until after his brother is knocked out.
Family
- Unnamed Mother
- Unnamed Father
- An older brother
- A Grandpa
- A Grandma
- Several ancestors seen in "A Town Called Ed" in "Fort Peach Creek."
Young Eddy
Eddy as a toddler
In "Every Which Way But Ed," Eddy is seen in his young, toddler-like form. He has shorter hair, and is seen wearing only his normal shirt from the rest of the series and a diaper. He has a propeller beanie, and has already befriended Ed before meeting Edd. Eddy began scamming at a young age, and his first known scam is "Bottomwess Ed," which was done at or around the time Edd moved to the Cul-de-Sac.
Old Eddy
Old Eddy
Old Eddy, seen in "Take This Ed and Shove It," hasn't changed his ways from when he was young. He is still as short tempered as he was as a kid, dislikes that he is old and does not like playing cribbage (though he still plays it with Ed and Edd). He hates walking with a cane and while he will discard it, it somehow finds its way back to him each time (like magic). His room is still the same retro-styled room he had back in his youth. In a deleted scene, it is shown that he is married to Old Lee (though he remembered nothing of the marriage). He still wears his normal clothes with the baggy pants having a patch on it. He has bushy, white eyebrows and his eyelids turned white. One thing that must be noted about this future form is quite possibly Eddy's imagining of him as an old man, so it is possible that the actual, older version of Eddy is quite different.
Eddy in FusionFall
Eddy as seen in FusionFall.
The player faces Eddy's fusion three times (twice alone, once with the other Fusion Eds). He is found in Peach Creek Commons in his cardboard fortress, which protects the cul-de-sac from Fusion attacks. After the fortress was built, he decided to make himself the king of the cul-de-sac. In the future, Eddy is the only character among the three Eds, and apparently the only character from his series in general (due to the absence of the Kankers), to have survived up to after the fall of Tech Square.
Unlike most of the characters, Eddy isn't very concerned about the Fusion invasion, which he sees as little more than a business opportunity. Eddy acts as a supplier of common household items and weapons to fight Fuse, and he supplies them by using the Urban Rangers. He sells the items in exchange for cash or items of greater value. Eddy's fusion is one of two fusions that you face three times, twice in the past, and once in the future. The other thrice-faced Fusion is Fusion Edd, and he is fought three times in the Past.
Fusion Eddy is fought in the future to gain his Nano. The first time he is fought in the past, you fight him alone; the second time (third overall), he is fought in a lair with Fusion Edd and Fusion Ed, all of whom need to be defeated to complete the given mission.
Relationships
Ed
Eddy and Ed have been best friends since they were babies, even meeting each other before Edd as shown in "Every Which Way But Ed". Eddy often bosses Ed around, making him do the majority of the heavy labor for their scams, but Ed happily does so due to his fierce loyalty. Eddy both affectionately and insultingly refers to Ed as "monobrow", "lummox", "lumpy", and a "big lug".
Eddy is easily irritated and annoyed by Ed's stupidity and antics, even moreso when he ruins their various scams. In "Who Let the Ed In?", Ed's new "imaginary friend" Jib drives Eddy crazy, and the episode ends with Eddy launching an invisible potato in his face. In "Rock-a-Bye Ed", Eddy is annoyed by Ed's trauma inducing nightmare, not taking Ed's fear of Jonny seriously and even ridiculing it. In "Pain in the Ed", Ed's parents make him practice the violin, to the annoyance of Eddy, and he spends the entire episode trying to destroy it. In "Little Ed Blue", Eddy is very impatient by Ed's anger, and reluctantly goes along with Edd in doing anything possible to cheer him up. Eddy eventually reaches a breaking point where he furiously yells at Ed and slaps him. Eddy even uses this to manipulate Ed into doing things; in "Ed or Tails", Ed orders jawbreakers through the mail, but feels bad when he notices there's only two: he subsequently offers them his two friends, to which Eddy gladly accepts before Edd stops him. In "It Came From Outer Ed", Eddy fools Ed into believing that Evil Tim was terrorizing the Cul-de-Sac, in order to put on a show for the neighborhood kids, resulting in Ed slamming a tree onto Edd and Jimmy. In "Brother, Can You Spare an Ed?", Sarah gives Ed money to buy her and Jimmy fudge from the candy store. Eddy presses Ed to spend this money on jawbreakers instead.
However there are several instances that showcase a brotherly relationship between the two, as Eddy will sometimes be amused by Ed's behavior which will often prompt him to affectionately say "you're an animal, Ed". He is thoroughly entertained by Ed's sleepwalking rampage in "A Glass of Warm Ed". He will sometimes even go along with Ed's stupid antics; this is prominent throughout the movie, where the two friends are seen roughhousing and playing pranks on Edd during their journey to Eddy's Brother. Eddy is also determined to save Ed from being grounded in "3 Squares and an Ed". In "Ed Overboard", Eddy participates in the cause to save Ed from the Kankers, although he snickers at seeing his friend being tortured.
Despite Eddy's selfishness and treating Ed like a tool for his needs, there are rare moments of Eddy demonstrating his loyalty to him. In the movie, he and Edd together save Ed when Rolf gets a hold of him as they were running away and Ed was ready to accept his farewell. He also tries to encourage Ed to stop putting up with Sarah's bossiness and convinces him to move out in Rambling Ed and in Is There an Ed in the House?, he convinces Ed to stand up for himself as he is the older brother and to get mean and be the boss of her.
Edd
Eddy's other best friend is Edd, who moved to the Cul-de-Sac as an infant, presumably briefly after Eddy met Ed. Being the brains of the trio, Edd is often tasked with inventing or constructed elaborate contraptions for their scams. However, the two often butt heads due to their stark difference in morals. Edd will often object to Eddy's schemes, occasionally refusing to participate or even sabotage them, but mostly goes along with them, likely due to his loyalty or pressure. Eddy will either affectionately or insultingly refer to Edd as "sockhead" "Shakespeare", "Einstein", or "windbag".
Edd often tries to persuade Eddy away from his unsavory actions, to no avail. In "For Your Ed Only", he tries to implore Eddy to return Sarah's missing diary. In "Pain in the Ed", he thwarts Eddy's attempts to destroy Ed's violin, out of concern for Ed but also because of his appreciation for music.
There are several moments where Eddy takes advantage of Edd's naivety and gullibility. In "Momma's Little Ed", Eddy utilizes Ed's skill of replicating Edd's parents handwriting by forging several sticky notes, making him perform several humiliating tasks. In "A Case of Ed", Eddy fools Edd into believing he is dying of a terminal disease. In "Truth or Ed", he tricks Edd into believing that he is supporting the school newspaper's endeavors, only to turn it into another money making scheme. In "Tinker Ed", Eddy wants to take advantage of Jimmy's eagerness to prove to Kevin that fairy tales are real, but Edd is touched and believes Eddy just wants to cheer Jimmy up. However this aspect of Edd's nature can negatively impact Eddy; in "To Sir with Ed", Edd suggests that Nazz is at Eddy's house for a date. Eddy runs with this idea until he is humiliated in front of the other kids, prompting Eddy to beat him up.
Edd's compassion and encouragement towards Ed will also anger Eddy. In "It Came From Outer Ed", Edd convinces Eddy to let Ed develop an idea for his own scam; as they fail to make a profit, an angry Eddy blames Edd for their failure. In "Who's Minding the Ed?", Rolf tasks Ed with watching his animals while he's gone for a family reunion. Edd supports this and tries to encourage Eddy to support their friend. Unsurprisingly, Eddy is annoyed and wants to animals gone, especially since they keep on hurting him. The episode ends with Edd in a bunny costume, as Eddy forces him to participate in a "Pet the Bunny" scam, as Ed pets his friend (who he believes is a bunny) in a painful manner. In "Tween a Rock and Ed Place", Eddy is annoyed by Jonny's Arbor Day party and tries to leave early; this devastates Jonny and causes him to burst in tears. Edd is sympathetic towards Jonny, and persuades Eddy to at least stay a longer so they can see Jonny make his "Arbor Day wish". Eddy begrudgingly stays, only to see that Ed's wish is that the party could last forever, which Jonny excitedly exclaims that he and Plank had the same wish. As Jonny and Ed board up the house, Eddy is furious at Edd.
Eddy's manipulative and scam driven antics will often test Edd's patience, leading to an occasional outburst. The lowest point of their friendship was shown in the movie, where Edd becomes fed up with being pranked by Eddy and Ed, following an incident where the pair had pretended to drown in quicksand. Edd is offended by Eddy calling him a "sap" and unloads on Eddy, blaming him for getting them in this situation and condemns Eddy for his various scams. Eddy fights back, saying Edd is complicit, and the two begin attacking each other. Edd kicks Eddy away, and says he's going home. Ed pleads him to stay, but Edd states that he'd rather face his consequences than "wander aimlessly" with Eddy, essentially denouncing their friendship. This pushes Eddy into guilt, where he admits everything was his fault, as he breaks down in tears and punches himself. This prompts Edd to turn around and forgive Eddy.
Despite their differences, Edd will often do everything he can to help and support Eddy, while there are times where Eddy is appreciative of Edd's ingenuity and prowess.
Jonny
Unsurprisingly, Eddy considers Jonny to be a nuisance and typically only wants to associate with him if he can exploit him in some way. Due to Jonny's jovial, eccentric, and naïve nature, Eddy views him as an asset at times. As with Ed and Edd, Jonny is usually friendly with Eddy, though to a much lesser extent as he can be wary of Eddy's greed. Even after his moments of conflict with Eddy, Jonny always comes around and continues to be friendly with Eddy, or even participate in his schemes. Though, there are times that Eddy underestimates Jonny's intelligence and Jonny catches on and refuses to fall for Eddy's scam. Of all the neighborhood kids Jonny is one of the most willing participants of the Eds' scams. Eddy often calls him insulting names such as "melonhead" or "bald badger". In If It Smells Like an Ed, Eddy believes that Jonny secretly hates the Eds when trying to determine suspects who framed them for ruining friendship day. Jonny then gets tied up and blindfolded by the real perpetrator, never knowing who it was and believed the Eds did it to him.
Perhaps the most tense moment between the two was in Robbin' Ed, where Jonny assumes his "Captain Melonhead" vigilante alter ego, and "saves" the other neighborhood kids from Eddy's scam. This infuriates Eddy and inspires him to develop a persona of his own, the villainous "Professor Scam". Eddy uses this to seek revenge on Jonny, culminating in an epic battle between the superhero and supervillain. Fittingly, Eddy is defeated in the end, and vows revenge once more, though Eddy never assumes his Professor Scam persona again, while Captain Melonhead is never seen again until the movie.
During the movie, Jonny was a victim to the Eds latest scam resulting in a beartrap being placed on his head and a Plank being chipped up. With the rest of the neighborhood kids present for the scam, they make great chase after the Eds. Jonny and Plank bring back their person as Captain Melonhead and Splinter the Wonder wood and take the bus to find the Eds after they run away from home. Jonny shows up late and misses the conflict with Eddy's brother, when he arrives, he starts attacking the Eds, thinking he saved the day, only for the rest of the neighborhood kids to whale on him for attacking their new friends. He appears in the post-credit scene, and it is implied that he becomes the new outcast and vows revenge on the Eds and the neighborhood kids and takes on a new evil persona, as The Gourd and Timber the Dark Shard but realizes the movie is over. It is never seen after that if he becomes friends with the Eds and the rest of the kids or remains an outcast.
Rolf
As with the other two Eds, Rolf typically maintains a friendly and amicable relationship with Eddy, albeit to a much lesser extent. Due to his eccentricity and odd customs, Eddy sees Rolf as something of a simpleton, and an easily exploitable target. Like Jonny, Rolf is one of the most willing participants in the Eds scams, yet is also wary around Eddy due to his greed and self serving nature. Rolf is often happy to participate in the scams due to his friendliness, gullibility, and unfamiliarity with American customs. Once Rolf realizes he's duped, he's easily angered and isn't afraid to retaliate. Eddy and Rolf can often find themselves in points of conflict, primarily due to the Eds' scams or when he feels that Eddy is disrespecting his culture. Eddy will often amicably refer to Rolf as "Stretch" or "Rolfy Boy", while Rolf is usually heard calling Eddy "the three haired Ed Boy". Rolf's unique cultural background certainly clashes against Eddy's modern, materialistic worldview.
Rolf is often eager to help the Eds, including Eddy. In X Marks the Ed, Rolf is sympathetic towards Eddy when he witnesses him being harassed by the other kids over his pimple, so he offers to help Eddy with a cure to get rid of it. Unfortunately, Rolf's remedy doesn't go the way he planned, as he was able to remove the pimple, but also shrunk Eddy's head, infuriating him.
One of their biggest conflicts was in the episode Dueling Eds, where Eddy unintentionally insults Rolf's culture twice. After the second time, Rolf is angered and challenges Eddy to a duel in order to regain his honor. Eddy is promptly defeated, but at this point it's all water under the bridge for Rolf, as he offers to continue friendship by giving Eddy and his friends the Eels of Forgiveness, which the trio begrudgingly accepts (into their pants).
Sarah
It is abundantly clear that Eddy despises Sarah and views her as nothing more than a whiny, spoiled brat. The animosity is shared from Sarah's end, as she dislikes Eddy the most out of all 3 Eds, and the harshest verbal or physical beatings are typically reserved for him. Sarah's hatred towards Eddy stems from his personality, scams, and bullying or harming Jimmy. It is likely began in the episode "Every Which Way But Ed" when they sold an ice cream to Jimmy made of a bowling pin, causing him to have perhaps permanent damage to his teeth, making it why Jimmy always wearing a retainer.
Jimmy
Similar to Sarah, Eddy mostly considers Jimmy to be an annoying brat. Jimmy is an extremely frequent target for Eddy's bullying and exploitation, as he's shown very little regard for his well-being and has put him in harm's way countless times. While Jimmy gets along with Edd and even Ed at times, Most of the time, he dislikes Eddy so much that he's actually scared of him throughout much of the series. Though this is his primary characterization to constantly be afraid (not just of Eddy) and accident-proned, he has occasionally been shown to stand up for himself and make snarky comments towards Eddy, and will often take glee in watching Sarah eat him. Eddy's disregard of Jimmy boils into hatred after Jimmy is able to get back at him in select episodes.
There are a few episodes where Jimmy has a more cunning, devious side and is able to get revenge on Eddy, the first of which being "Ed in a Halfshell". In this episode, Sarah tasks Ed with taking care of Jimmy while she's away for a ballet lesson; Eddy sees this as an opportunity to make Jimmy his apprentice and groom him into a fellow scammer. This proves to be somewhat of a success at first, as Jimmy actually embraces Eddy's teachings and is able to devise a successful scam of his own; however, Eddy demands 60% of the profits, which Jimmy disagrees with. This prompts Eddy to attack him, only for Jimmy to get him and the other Eds in trouble and beaten up by Sarah. It is revealed and implied in "Every Which Way But Ed" that his hatred and fear of Eddy is due to trauma Eddy caused him. In a flashback, Eddy's scam was a sundae bar made of bowling equipment, it is here that Eddy sold Jimmy an ice cream which was actually a bowling pin. This caused likely permanent damage to Jimmy's teeth, which is why he wears a retainer.
Kevin
Kevin is the most antagonistic rival to the Eds. While there are times when Kevin shows moments of being civil with Edd and even becomes friends with Ed when he becomes cool, he is always at odds with Eddy the most. Kevin is the one that sees through Eddy's scam more than anyone else. Kevin's most frequent trait is to calls the Eds "dorks." Eddy, meanwhile, sees Kevin as a rival and has shown to envy him for being popular and the only person to stand in his way to rule the neighborhood. It is often Kevin out of anyone else who ends up beating him and the other Eds when they do wrong.
Their rivalry with one another also led to exploitation and blackmail of each other's embarrassing secrets. In the episode Your Ed Here, Kevin learns Eddy's middle name, which Eddy is embarrassed of. Kevin uses this as an opportunity to blackmail him into doing humiliating tasks until he decides to still tell everyone, making Eddy feel crushed. Kevin also made Eddy mess up on his school photo in Smile for the Ed and steals it to make copies of to distribute around the school to humiliate him. Eddy has taken the opportunity to humiliate and exploit Kevin's fear of needles after discovering his medical records at the school nurse in the episode This Won't Hurt an Ed, which Kevin always panicked at the sight of them and even faint. Unlike Kevin, however, Eddy got busted and gets his comeuppance while Kevin has gotten away scot-free from anytime he exploits Eddy.
In the movie, he makes no hesitation to chase after the Eds after their latest scam was the worst in resulting him and the others bodily injury. However, after witnessing Eddy being abused by his brother and realizing from Eddy's tearful confession that he was trying to gain acceptance, he gets moved by it and forgives Eddy, inviting him and the Eds to join the cul-de-sac friend group with jawbreakers at his house.
Nazz
Unlike the rest of the kids of the cul-de-sac, Nazz actually is nicer to the Eds. Like the other boys (except Jimmy and Rolf), the Eds also have a crush on Nazz. This becomes plot in the episode Boys Will Be Eds, in which the neighborhood boys all pine for Nazz's affection. Most of the time, however, she is either oblivious to the Eddy's crush on her or goes with the mob mentality on how to respond whether to laugh at and bully Eddy, or turn against him when they all believe he did something wrong. However, she also seems to be the more reasonable person to actually give the Eds some benefit of doubt. She was hired to babysit Eddy in To Sir with Ed, but Eddy mistakenly believes it was a date.
Despite initially joining the others in chasing after the Eds in the movie after receiving her share of bodily harm from it, she along with everyone else was appalled by Eddy's brother's abuse towards his younger brother. She was moved, along with everyone else, by Eddy's tearful confession of his actions, even the wrong ones, were his efforts to desire acceptance. She along with the rest of the kids forgive him and she even gives him a kiss.
Kankers
The Kankers are 3 sisters that moved into the trailer park and have a crush on the Eds. Eddy is frequently desired by Lee Kanker the most, as in their trio, they are both the leader. However, the Kankers affections for the Eds are greatly predatory as they make no hesitation to make unwanted advances on them, including kissing and stalking them. Despite the Eds always never desiring them, the Kankers constantly think of them as their boyfriends and even their husbands. In Honor Thy Ed, they even set up a ruse in an abandoned house that the kids thought was haunted and set up a ride for the Eds showing animatronics of them doing chores as house-husbands, with the ride ending with the Eds naked and to be wed to the Kankers. They always show up to either ruin their scams or get in the way of their exploits, oftentimes always ending things with entrapping them for kisses.
In A Twist of Ed, the Kankers show up at each of the Eds houses and assault them with unwanted kisses. This becomes the final straw for the Eds and Edd thinks up of a reverse psychology approach to make advances on the Kankers. The effect begins to work and the Kankers get all horrified by the Eds and run away from them, however, Eddy is still terrified and does not participate at first with hitting on them. When Edd tries to get Eddy to woo them, his sweat gets noticed by Lee, who learns of the Eds game and turns the table on them, making their mission to scare the Kankers away a failure.
Despite the Kankers affections being non-consensual and unwanted by the Eds, they do truly love the Eds. They have displayed great jealousy in May I Have This Ed? when Marie sees Edd dancing with Nazz and takes Eddy to get Edd jealous, making Lee jealous and attack Marie for stealing Eddy, then May with Lee for using Ed as a hammer to attack Marie. They also show protection and concern for the Eds in the movie as they venture out to stop the neighborhood kids from harming them. Lee was angered by Eddy being beaten and abused by his brother and has attempted to charge at him while her sisters were restraining her. However, after Ed knocks out Eddy's Brother, she with her sisters drags the brother's unconscious body back into the trailer with intent to make advances on him instead.
Brother
Throughout the series, Eddy's brother never appears as he is already moved out of the house. However, Eddy always told stories about him being cool and speaks of him as he is his hero. Despite the kids all living in the cul-de-sac all their lives, none of them seemed to have met or remember him making all the stories Eddy tells believable. So much that in the episode Ed... Pass it On..., he exploits this by starting a rumor that he is coming home as an opportunity to gain respect after realizing that is why others respected him years ago. This, in turn, had each member of the cul-de-sac react differently with either desiring to meet him or fearing the idea, but all of them to make it so they respect Eddy and request he makes them look good to his brother. He also described his brother to be the only person cooler than him and as the king, claiming he is talented at pranks and a lot of interesting skills. In Smile for the Ed, he greatly desired to move into his brother's room when his mother requested that he brings home a nice school portrait. In An Ed Is Born, Eddy's brother sends home a package to Eddy which turned out to be a diaper and rattle, implying that his brother still sees him as his baby brother, even having the shipping label name him Pipsqueek. Eddy tries to get the Eds to make a home movie to show his brother how much he has grown and make false claims that he is popular and rules the neighborhood just like he used to.
It is in the movie when his brother finally appears, as the Eds go find him to run away from home for protection with him after their latest scam brought great fury and bodily harm for the other kids. Despite all the great stories he told about his brother, the truth about him is revealed to everyone. Eddy's brother is actually a bully who greatly abused Eddy and beats him up. Despite the neighborhood kids' whole journey to chase after the Eds, they and the Kankers were appalled at witnessing his brother's abuse and collectively stand up to him. It is here that Eddy tearfully confesses how he made everything up about his brother in order to make others like him to Ed and Edd. The other kids are moved by his confession, forgiving him and the Eds and invite them to their circle of friends.

Trivia
Eddy during the Cartoon Cartoons era.
- Danny Antonucci said that he based Eddy on his two sons.
- Eddy's name was inspired by the song "Girls Don’t Like It" by the Undertones.[3]
- His I.D. in "Your Ed Here" has revealed many things about him. His middle name is "Skipper," he is 12 years old as of that episode, and he lives at 220 Rethink Avenue.
- Eddy was previously implied to be 12 years old in "A Pinch to Grow an Ed".
- Eddy's house number was shown to be 200 in the earlier episode "To Sir with Ed", making the number given in "Your Ed Here" an apparent retcon.
- He mentions that he used to have a gerbil in "Oath to an Ed."
- In "A Pinch to Grow an Ed," Eddy's growth chart revealed that his height had plateaued by the age of 11.
- His report card grades, as seen in the episode "Mission Ed-Possible," are the following:
- Art: F
- Science: F
- English: F
- History: F
- Remedial Math: F
- Wood Shop: F
- Cooking: F
- Eddy is a fan of Tom Jones and Barry White, evidenced by the records and posters in his room. He also has a Neil Diamond record in the comic "Sugar, Spice, & Ed".
- Eddy's usual running style is leaning forward with arms stretched forward, as if he is trying to catch something right in front of him.
- Eddy appeared in the Cartoon Cartoons logo for Ed, Edd n Eddy. He also appeared in the corresponding logos for Cartoon Cartoon Fridays and Cartoon Cartoon Weekend.
- During the Noods era of Cartoon Network from July 14, 2008 to May 28, 2010, the "Next" Nood for Ed, Edd n Eddy and Ed, Edd n Eddy's Big Picture Show takes on the form of Eddy.
- In Cartoon Network Universe: FusionFall, Eddy does not grant the player extra in-game money when they defeat an enemy. This could be an intentional reference to his obsession with money and the fact that he would be unlikely to give it away.
- He has a yellow tongue in all of the episodes of Season 1 and some promotional artwork. However, in the first episode of season 2, "Know it All Ed", his tongue is green, and it stays that way throughout the rest of the series.
- Additionally, in the opening sequence of the show, his tongue is green. This was the case even when season 1 was airing.
- A tutorial on how to draw Eddy is included in Ed, Edd n Eddy The Complete First Season.
- Eddy, along with Ed and Edd, made appearances in the Jellystone! Cartoon Network episode, Crisis on Infinite Mirths.
- Ironically, despite Eddy having the main focus out of all the characters on the show, his name is last in the title of the show.
